These hosts lose all higher cognitive functions but retain motor skills and develop heightened aggression towards sound and scent, while exhibiting strong photophobia that drives them to avoid light. Over time, the virus has evolved various strains within the population, ranging from slow-moving Biters to hyper-fast Volatiles; notably, the threat level increases dramatically at night because specific variants like Volatiles exhibit heightened nocturnal aggression and speed, while standard Biters remain slow.
